Autoliv Inc. has pledged $400,000 to the rescue and restoration efforts following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan. This donation will be directed through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the people of Japan in the midst of this heartbreaking tragedy,” stated Jan Carlson, CEO and President of Autoliv. “We feel very fortunate that none of Autoliv’s nearly 1,700 associates were injured, and we are proud to join them in a unified effort through our financial contribution to assist those most deeply affected.”
Mr. Carlson visited Japan this week to personally thank the Company’s employees for their heroic efforts to resume production within the plants. Autoliv has four manufacturing facilities in Japan with only one facility suffering minor damage. This plant was brought back into operations on March 15, just four days after the earthquake, and resumed its first customer deliveries on March 17.
“I wish to express the hope of Autoliv’s global family that the people of Japan can see their recovery through with the same courage and resolve I have witnessed these past two weeks,” concluded Mr. Carlson.
